Halloween 2009

Happy Halloween! On Friday night we decided that we should keep our family costume theme tradition going so I quickly fashioned a dalmatian outfit for Jack (out of felt and safety pins), while Tommy wore the same costume Stephie and Sarah had worn as little girls. I found child sized fireman's hats for Rob and I. Stephie decided to join us and had the best costume of all of us, as fire:) Nina and Grandpa M came up for the day to see their little puppies all dressed up for the night. We drove around the city to see Grandma and Papa K, Oma and Opa, Auntie Liz and Uncle Craig and a couple other family friends. The night started out pretty good, although Tommy really didn't want to wear his puppy hat. Rob told him he could have one of his "treats" if he kept it on and boy was that a mistake. Once Tommy had the taste of sugar in his mouth, he decided he never wanted to be separated from it again (he takes after his mother). On the drive from my parents house to my grandparents there was quite a bit of screaming and many attempts at reasoning with a two year old as to why he was not allowed to eat all of his Halloween goodies. Eventually, we moved past that melt down and finished off a fun night of trick or treating on my Aunt's street and then back to hit up our neighbors houses. We got back to our house and realized that we had forgotten to put the light on so nobody had come to get our candy (hmm, could I have subconsciously been trying to save it all for myself?) and we only had 2 groups of kids after that. We then sat down to enjoy Tommy's plentiful supply, and let him have a few more bites:) Shortly after the boys were in bed, Rob passed out on the couch and me and Stephie played board games and watched 30 Rock. All in all a great night:) Luckily Tommy forgot about the candy and I safely gave away/ate the rest of it so I no longer have to worry about a sugar meltdown. Until next year:)

Happy Fam

With all the grandparents:
Tommy's smile is out of control!

With Auntie Stephiebia-AKA Fire

With Oma and Opa-Tommy's smile weakening from sugar overload

With Aunt Liz and Uncle Craig-Note absence of Tommy's smile-needs regeneration

Ahh yes, here it is!

End of the night-Crazy smile back

Mommy enjoying her king size butterfinger with her sleeping darling

Pooped out puppy

Auntie Sarah had a football game on Halloween so we dressed the boys up again on Sunday to take more pictures.

At this point Tommy had just about had it-especially since he was no longer getting his sugar fixWith Uncle Danny and Lisa-Tommy will no longer humor Mommy:)
It was fun that Tommy was actually into it this year, but I think we will only be going to houses that are passing out toothbrushes and vitamins next year:)

Great post with great narration! Love the pictures of Tommy's smile and the last one with Jack on his tummy. But, my favorite has to be the one with us and the boys and a TOILET in the background!!!

Doggy your costume is too good to be true. If I had been home maybe i could have dressed up as a fire truck or a hose!
